1. Module overview

The Product and service packs module lets you group several existing products or services into a single ‘pack’ (also called a bundle or kit) that you sell as a whole. A pack is in fact a full-fledged Dolibarr product, identified by a reference prefix (by default ‘PK-’), to which you attach a list of components with their quantity, VAT, price and an optional discount. The main benefit shows up on commercial documents: simply add the pack as a single line in a quotation, an order or an invoice, and the module automatically ‘unfolds’ it by displaying the detail of every component it contains. You save time during entry while keeping a clear, detailed document for the customer. The module relies entirely on Dolibarr’s native objects (products, services, categories, quotations, orders, invoices) without duplicating your catalogue.

  • Sell a set of products/services as a single offer (pack, bundle, kit)
  • Build a pack from products and services already present in your catalogue
  • Insert a pack in one click into a document and watch it break down automatically
  • Choose how prices are shown (on the pack or on each component)
  • Stay 100% within Dolibarr: the pack is a product, its components are your items

2. Create and build a pack

From the Products/Services menu, the ‘Create a pack’ entry opens a form that creates the pack product and lets you define its components right away.

  • Fill in the pack reference (the ‘PK-’ prefix is suggested and completed automatically), a label, a description, a status (active/inactive) and the type (product or service)
  • Add as many components as needed: each line points to an existing product or service, with quantity, VAT, unit price excl. tax, unit price incl. tax, discount (%) and description
  • Add or remove component lines on the fly using the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons
  • Benefit from automatic filling of the price, VAT and description as soon as a product is selected from the list
  • Create a new product/service to include in the pack directly via a shortcut, without leaving the screen

3. View and manage the list of packs

The ‘Packs / Bundles’ entry in the Products/Services menu displays all packs already created and gives access to their management.

  • See each pack with its reference, label, total excl. tax and total incl. tax (calculated from the components)
  • Sort the list by reference or by label
  • Open a pack’s detail, edit it or delete it directly from the list
  • Access a pack’s record summarising the linked product, the totals and the full table of components

4. Edit a pack’s components

On a pack’s record, a table lists all the components and lets you change them without starting from scratch.

  • Add a new component (product/service, quantity, VAT, price excl. tax, price incl. tax, discount, description)
  • Edit an existing line directly in the table
  • Delete a component line
  • See the pack’s total excl. tax and total incl. tax recalculated automatically with every change
  • Refresh in one click the prices, VAT and descriptions of all components from the product records (bulk update from the configuration)

5. Add a pack to a quotation, an order or an invoice

On the quotation, order and invoice screens (as well as on contracts), the module adds a dedicated block for inserting a pack.

  • Choose a pack from a drop-down list and specify a quantity
  • Insert the pack in a single action using the ‘Add’ button
  • The pack is added as a line, then automatically broken down on the document
  • A message confirms that the pack has indeed been added to the document

6. Automatically unfold the pack into detailed lines

This is the heart of the module: as soon as a ‘pack’ line is present on a document, the module turns it into a main line + components set and keeps this set up to date.

  • A ‘parent’ line represents the pack, followed by a ‘child’ line for each component
  • Each component’s quantity is calculated automatically (component quantity × ordered pack quantity)
  • If you change the pack quantity, the components are recalculated accordingly
  • If you delete the pack line, all its components are removed at the same time
  • The document totals are recalculated automatically after the unfolding

7. Choose the price display mode

The module offers three ways to split the amounts between the pack line and its components, depending on the commercial presentation you want.

  • Parent: the price stays on the pack line and the components are shown for information only (amounts at zero)
  • Sum: the amounts are carried on each component and the pack line is reset to zero
  • Auto (Auto sum to parent): the components keep their amounts and the pack line is automatically aligned with their sum
  • The chosen mode applies in the same way to data entry and to the printed document

8. Configure the module

The configuration screen (reserved for the administrator) brings together the adaptation settings and two maintenance tools.

  • Define the prefix that identifies a product as a pack (by default ‘PK-’)
  • Choose the price mode (Parent, Sum or Auto)
  • Enable or disable the impact of components on stock
  • Rebuild the module’s operation (schema, settings, packs) and launch the bulk update of all packs
  • On installation and during a rebuild, the module automatically enables Dolibarr’s native sub-products (PRODUIT_SOUSPRODUITS option), required for unfolding packs.
  • Note: pack unfolding on contracts exists (via Dolibarr triggers) but cannot be enabled from the configuration screen; whether or not the component descriptions are shown (records and PDF) is set on the pack record itself, not in administration.

9. Formatting on documents and PDFs

The module takes care of the rendering of pack lines, both on screen and on the PDF documents generated by Dolibarr.

  • The pack line is highlighted and its reference appears in bold
  • The component lines are presented more discreetly, indented under the pack
  • Depending on the configuration, the detailed description of the components can be shown or hidden on the PDFs

10. Links with Dolibarr

The module does not work in isolation: it integrates with the native building blocks of Dolibarr.

  • Products and services : Foundation of the module: a pack is a native Dolibarr product and each component is an existing product or service from the catalogue. Prices and VAT are taken from the item records, with no duplication.
  • Product categories : Each pack product is automatically placed in a ‘Pack’ category (created if it does not exist), which makes it easy to find and filter packs in the catalogue.
  • Quotations, orders and invoices : The module adds a pack insertion block and automatically unfolds the components on commercial proposals, customer orders and customer invoices.
  • Supplier purchases : Pack unfolding also works on supplier price requests, orders and invoices, to manage bundles on the procurement side.
  • Intervention records : A pack added to an intervention record is broken down into its components, useful for services combining several products/services.
  • Contracts : Packs are also unfolded on contract lines, via Dolibarr triggers (behaviour not exposed in the configuration screen).
  • Composite products / sub-products (kits) : The module synchronises with Dolibarr’s native sub-products feature so that the pack behaves like a composite product (kit), consistent with the catalogue.
  • Stock management : An option lets you enable or disable the impact of components on stock when they are used in a pack.
  • Product prices : The pack product’s price can be synchronised with the total of its components in the product’s native price history.
  • PDF document generation : Through Dolibarr’s printing mechanism, the module formats the pack lines on the PDFs (pack highlighted, components indented, descriptions shown or hidden).
